Culture

The sound of indefinable longing.

Richard tells the stories of Africa’s history and culture through music, with a troupe of musicians, percussion and unique instrumentation. One instrument stands out: the pan flute, which he plays himself.

The instrument

The pan flute

Of all the instruments in the troupe, the pan flute is the one he plays himself: breath across a row of reeds, warm and unhurried, over drums and percussion.

Heritage

A prince of Alasorin

He is a descendant of the royal household of Alasorin in Nigeria, and fascinated by the dynamic legacy of the continent. His conviction: financial inclusion comes first, so that Africans in the diaspora can connect with and support their families, their people and their culture. Cultural inclusion follows.

Elements

Life of a seeker

To some degree we are all seekers. Markets, carvers, the city after dark and the quiet of the garden: the world he carries with him.

  • Racks of printed African fabrics at a market stall.
  • Richard Meseko smiling in warm evening light, in a patterned shirt.
