Long (109 words) · Introductions, press, website
Richard Meseko is a payments executive whose career has followed the money that families send home. He has held operational and leadership roles at Ecobank in Côte d’Ivoire and Congo Brazzaville, led Travelex Money Transfer’s Africa region from Ghana, and served WorldRemit as Country Director for Canada, North America, Africa, and Latin America and the Caribbean. He has led global sales for Rapidtransfer International, Ecobank’s service for the African diaspora in Europe. Born in Nigeria and based between Montréal and Paris, he holds an MBA from the Université du Québec à Montréal. He believes financial inclusion is the first step to cultural inclusion, and tells Africa’s stories through music.

TOPICS

1. Remittances and the next ten years of inclusion
What the diaspora corridor has taught the industry, and what it still has to fix: cost, speed, and the last mile to a family’s account or mobile wallet.

2. Why the corridor matters more than the app
Payments are built on licences, partners and trust across borders. A view from someone who has opened corridors in four regions.

3. Financial inclusion first, cultural inclusion follows
How money that moves safely lets families invest at home, and why culture travels the same routes.

4. Building trust across borders
Partnerships between banks, money transfer operators and mobile money: what makes them last.
